One of my new vessels will be in the ‘Shaped from the Earth‘ show that opens at the Millennium Gallery here in Sheffield this Saturday.

I am happy to be included in this show and I think it will be interesting. Actually I am excited about Saturday when it opens.

The exhibition is curated by Penny Withers, who, like myself, have a studio at Yorkshire Artspace: Persistence Works. The show include some 28 artists who works in ceramics, all based in Sheffield. Now I do know a lot of potters living in this northern city, but 28!

I can hardly wait to see the diversity of all this ceramics. We all have our own approach to the medium and get inspired by different things around us and work in clay can mean so many different things.

I think it is an inspired idea from the Millennium to let a potter choose the pieces for this show of local makers, working in clay.

It could be a little gem! The show is meant to give a picture of what is being made in Sheffield but it will also probably reflect Penny’s approach to pottery/ceramics.

Come and see for yourself, I am sure all the potters will be there on Saturday.
